The 500-cubic-foot, two chamber design allows concurrent wood and salt firing. While the first chamber is similar to the nobicamas I fired in while apprenticing in Japan, the second chamber is "walk-in western style." Together they hold 600-800 objects of average table-top size. The wood firing process runs hot, holding the kiln at Cone 10-12 (approximately 2300-2400°F) for 36 hours. The firing itself takes 3 days with 10 minute stoking intervals.
